Versatility is one of his key attributes, with the variety of experiences from being the youngest compliment officer in the Royal Navy, in sole charge of the bridge at sea in a highly complex warship in extremely challenging situations, where lives depend upon judgement and skill, though to leading gunnery, responsibility for explosives accounting, running a ships office, serving as a British Sea Fisheries Officer, arresting fishing boats and supporting prosecutions. He has held a wide variety of roles across multiple business functions, in different industry sectors, including serving as MD of a FTSE 100 subsidiary and CEO of a Publicly Quoted Company for 5 years.

Roles have included, customer service, sales and marketing, investment, property development, operational management, business analysis, large scale highly complex business transformation and enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management technology implementation. As an entrepreneur, he has done what few others have, achieved a record breaking IPO.

He has first-hand experience of many business challenges across the spectrum, and has worked on many contracts overseas.

Whilst some might say he was a generalist, it belies his in depth business knowledge and experience that has led to him becoming a bestselling author of 13 non-fiction books, which have generated in excess of $3.8m revenue, and have been endorsed by many top leaders including, nine heads of UK top 1000 companies including: Apple, Sony, Carphone Warehouse, St James’s Place, The Director General of the Institute of Directors, The First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy, One of the Co-Founders of global software giant SAP and event the ex-President of Luxembourg.
